Converse Project

During the art festival in Ann Arbor over the summer, I walked around in the streets and check out the booths that sells different handicrafts and paintings. Among these booths I found one that sells pure white converse shoes and provides sharpies for the buyers to draw on their white converse on site.

So here is my pair of white converse after I bought it for ten hours.

The two shoes are showing two opposite themes and it is represented in many opposite images on the two shoes. The red shoe presents a masculine theme and the blue one presents a feminine theme. As shown in the photos on the left, there is a lot of fire patterns with sharp edges on the red shoe, while the blue shoe is filled with curvy patterns that represents water.

On the outer side of the red shoe, I drew a centaur in a armor, which is a very masculine image. The patterns on the armor is analogous to the fire pattern around him.

On the inner side of the red shoe, I drew a sun with the converse logo which blend the log into my design perfectly.

I drew a mermaid with a harp in her hands on the outer side of the blue shoe. Both the mermaid and the harp are feminine images , which are opposite to the centaur and the armor on the red shoe. The hair and the scales on the mermaid are filled with curvy patterns that echos with the watery pattern around her.

I drew a moon with the converse logo on the blue shoe. Again, this blends the converso logo into my design and also presents an opposite image to the sun on the red shoe.
